SUMMER/FALL 2024 PROJECT

This is a project coming down the pipeline - the chicken tractor for raising meat chickens.

Chicken tractors are basically a type of mobile chicken coop. Some are very simple, made as just a small structure close to the ground that you can drag around the field or some are bigger with coops attached and fancy watering systems.

I am a fan of the first. A simple frame enclosed in chicken wire that I can drag around by myself.

I would like to raise about 50 birds before winter of 2024 to stock up the freezer for Dinner in the Garden and share with family and friends.

The project in total will be about $800.

That includes building supplies for making the tractor, new feeders and waterers, the broiler chicks and enough feed for at least 8 weeks.

I’ve broken down the project into each of those categories to let you choose which part you’d like to contribute. As people sponsor a category, they will be marked as sold out so everyone can see the progress.

Sponsors of the broiler chicks and building supplies will receive a bouquet of flowers if they are local or a jar of honey shipped at the end of the season.
